About Us

AgrAbility Virginia assists farmers, farmworkers, and their families who identify with illness, injury, or disability to work safely and productively with dignity through education, rehabilitative services, and assistive technology.  AgrAbility Virginia services are funded through USDA NIFA and are available at no cost.

AgrAbility Virginia's work is guided by an Advisory Group composed of farmers and practitioners.  We also manage the Rural Rehab Network; a network of organizations across Virginia that help troubleshoot farmer challenges and offer collaborative services to our clients.  To see who is working with us, follow the links below.


How We Support

We offer support services to farmers that include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing educational resources and trainings for farmers, farmworkers, and families
  • Providing disability advocacy
  • Identifying assistive technology for accessibility and mobility
  • Coordinating community services and outreach
  • Connecting farmers to funding sources

Who We Support

We support a wide diversity of farmers across all farming communities, such as:

  • Small and mid-size farms
  • Rural and urban farm settings
  • Beginning farmers
  • Military veteran farmers
  • Socially disadvantaged farmers
  • Limited resource farmers

We address a wide variety of disabling conditions in agriculture, including, but not limited to:

  • Arthritis
  • Spinal cord injuries/paralysis
  • Back impairments
  • Amputations
  • Brain/head injury
  • Visual/hearing impairments
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Stress and anxiety
