Craig, owner of Greenmount Heritage LLC, has been farming for nearly 40 years, raising cattle, row crops, and turkeys. As a below-the-elbow amputee, many daily farm tasks, especially lifting and carrying, became increasingly difficult, since he relies primarily on his left arm.
AgrAbility Virginia connected Craig with assistive technologies designed to reduce physical strain and improve efficiency on his farm. These included a trailer jack drill lifting adapter to minimize stress on his left arm, as well as pump systems that allow him to move liquids without hauling heavy buckets.
With these adjustments in place, Craig is able to work more safely and sustainably. The changes not only make daily tasks more manageable but also help protect his long-term health by preventing unnecessary aches, pains, and further injury.
